Quick Update

This past week has totally sucked.  Well, more like the past two weeks.

I started out with a week of stomach problems and, of course, the day I went to see my GI specialist, I was feeling a lot better.  I have IBS and a hiatal hernia.  Eating healthy, high fiber meals and less processed (gluten) crap, as well as actually taking my Prilosec prescription every day will help keep the stomach problems away.

Possible TMI warning!!!  Possible TMI warning!!!

Long story short:  As soon as my stomach problems went away, Aunt Flo made a very dramatic visit.

Long version:  Due to my whole cancer experience, I take birth control pills for hormone replacement.  I also take them continuously to avoid other issues I won’t mention.  I usually get a 3 month supply shipped to me through Express Scripts home delivery pharmacy.  I was due for that supply at the end of December.  When it didn’t come a few days into January, I called Express Scripts and they said they had delivery confirmation on December 30th…but I didn’t have my prescription.  I was charged $43 for the United States Postal Service to deliver my prescription to someone else’s mail box. Express Scripts won’t refund the $43 and USPS has been no help, nor has the crappy-ass neighbor who could have left the envelope on my doorstep or returned the damned thing to sender.  So I’m out $43 and had no prescriptions.  My (ex)GYN wouldn’t write a new prescription because it was too soon…because my prescription was delivered to the wrong mailbox.  I was forced to completely stop my medication after many many months of taking it continuously.  I feared for the worst, and I got it.  Aunt Flo made an eight hour appearance and left me in so much pain I was close to making an ER run.  A few days later, my endocrinologist wrote me a prescription for a month supply and I’m on the hunt for a new GYN.  Getting that prescription filled was a big, fat headache, but I have it and am no longer dealing with hot flashes and night sweats.

Then I came down with a cold.  Still have the bugger.

And then my video card died on me.  I’m using my husband’s computer to type this up really quick.  I really need to write and schedule posts in advance so I can still have posts published even during crappy weeks or weeks when I’ll be gone (like next week).

And that’s my quick update.  I apologize if it’s kind of all over the place.  Hopefully I will have my computer back this evening and can work on my monthly debt update post.

  1. Ugh, so sorry to hear about the mediical problems but then add not getting your meds – double ugh!! I used to have home delivery also, but get all my meds at Target now. I can only get a month at a time but after I fill 5, I get a 5% discount card. I hope you’re feeling better soon!

  2. Ahh, that’s awful, sorry about your pain and problems with Express Scripts. We had them in 2011 and it was a nightmare. Either our medications were never delivered, but we were charged, like you. OR they would take 3-4 weeks to fulfill the prescription and have all kinds of excuses why it took so long. We ended up paying higher costs for prescriptions at the local pharmacy just to avoid using ES. Hope you feel better!

  3. Yikes! What a mess! I’m glad I’ve never attempted to use Express Scripts. After your horror story, I wouldn’t even try it. I’ve swapped birth control in the past and it’s been a mess to get regular again. I couldn’t even imagine stopping entirely and trying to start again. UGH! I hope you feel better soon!

    • Thanks Marietta! Yeah, definitely can’t recommend ES to anyone now after this nightmare. It’s not so hard for me to start again, it’s the stopping that really messes with my body immediately. I either need to take them continuously or never take them again and since estrogen plays an important role in calcium and vitamin D absorption, I should probably take them continuously…it’s just finding the right GYN who gets it.
